Does the Marshland choice change the ending?
No.
Supporting Ocean or Plant changes that part of the storyline, but both variants reconverge before Council induction.
At 2000 Population, Pontus's first question is not the final Marshland owner. It only changes the next Plant Kingdom dialogue. The real assignment happens around 2100, and both sides still reconverge.
